My name is Paul and I would like to share with the world my experience with Mike's Carpet. Three months ago I bought an apartment in Port Moody and I decided to change the carpets with hard wood floors. I am not at all a handy man and don't have any contacts in the flooring industry, so I turned to Google to find contractors for the job. Well, the Internet is a huge place and I got lost very quickly. Where to start? At first I just surfed the web and educated myself about what exchanging the carpets with hard wood floors means. Then I started to contact companies to get quotations. I think this might sound silly to most of you, but I scheduled appointments with 20 contractors. Spread over 2 weeks, 20 different contractors stopped by to measure my house and give me a quotation for the job. As expected, I got different offers and different recommendations. Out of 20, only 5 have noticed something of vital importance, which I consider a hidden cost of flooring: the floors in my new apartment are not even and this is something of major importance when installing hardwood floors. When I realized the extra costs I will have to cover just to bring the apartment to a decent condition to be able to do the job, I got really mad. I've just bought the apartment and wasn't it supposed to be in perfect shape? To me, this is a manufacturing flaw, skillfully covered by the carpet. I felt cheated and I immediately contacted my realtor. The realtor was not very cooperative at all; he made the deal, pocketed his commission for the sale, and why would he care about this small details that I should have noticed before I signed the contract? I got mad to the world. When Mike stopped by, he found me in a very irritated mood. I did not trust anybody anymore and I was sure that he is, too, one of those people who will try to take advantage of me. So I let him go ahead with his measuring (I already knew all the numbers) and when he touched the unlevel floors subject, I exploded. Mike, I will apologize here again for my reaction. People... you know what he did? Very calmly, he asked me to show him the real estate transaction contract. He told me he is a real estate investor and he knows things that many people don't. He showed me a warranty clause in the contract that entitles me to a cost reimbursement for the repairs that will be done to bring the apartment to the condition in which it was promised to me. The wording in the contract is very sophisticated and I did not understand much, but Mike translated it to me and things became more clear to me. I started to feel better, but I was still skeptical. Next day I called my realtor and told him about what Mike showed me. The realtor came over a couple of days later, we went over the contract, and it proved that yes, Mike was right. To my surprise, the seller was very cooperative and he accepted to cover the cost of the repair. (I have a feeling he knew about that problem, but hoped I would never find out). He dealt directly with Mike and I did not have to worry about anything. Mike sent over two of his installers and in three days my apartment looked brand new. What a relief! Mike, thank you! I wanted to share my story with those who are interested in working with you, but don't know who you are. I don't want to use any adjectives to describe what you've done for me. I discovered Mike's Carpet and Flooring through an ad posted on Craigslist. I was looking to re-floor my entire townhouse in Surrey with laminate, and after much comparison, Mike's Carpet was by far the best deal in town! Not only was Mike's pricing by far more competitive then any other flooring business (no one else could meet or beat his pricing). His professionalism and communication were superb. My floors were installed yesterday and they look absolutely fabulous! The installers were fast, efficient, knowledgeable and very helpful. They managed to re-floor my whole townhouse in about 5 hours leaving me enough time to put my house all back together in one day! Mike called after the installation to make sure I was happy and I have absolutely no regrets!‎
