Engineered hardwood flooring is an amazing product made up of a core hardwood, plywood or HDF (high density fiberboard). A top layer of hardwood veneer is then stuck on the surface to give it that pure natural hardwood look. Generally engineered hardwood consists of three or more layers but the end result is a product that has all the natural characteristics of various types of hardwood species but with greater stability against heat and moisture that all natural hardwoods are exposed to. This is an important feature when considering a choice between engineered hardwood and solid hardwood flooring.
